OSX is getting more and more complex.. the whole drag and drop to install is great and all… and if the app stays within it’s package contents dir then fine.. but installing Input Managers and libs and stuff.. hell it is getting more and more like windows. Apple needs to address this with a better solution for uninstall all the tid bits around the fs.

got turned on to this tidy little app Lingon. I don’t quite get the name, but the GUI is very nice and it makes creating launchd configs for OSX very easy.

I am ashamed to say that I have started to enjoy using wiki software. It all started with the wonderful little app called VoodooPad. A while later a friend of mine turned me onto a the BitNami site. BitNami has lots of open source packages that are nicely packaged up for OSX. So while there I figured I would try out DokuWiki. I installed that bit on the MacBook and now I have a nice open source wiki running right on my desktop. This pretty much replaces the for pay VoodooPad. I’m quite excited.
So after a bit of research on the www, I created a launchd plist config in to automatically start DokuWiki when OSX starts up. Then I set the homepage of Safari to the local instance of the wiki and as Emeril would say bam!

The New Orleans episode of Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservations” just aired. My favorite part was a shot of a chef wearing a t-shirt that read “New Orleans; The city government forgot.” That’s got it about right, I’d say.
Anthony’s shows seems to be getting a bit better here lately. My general feeling last season, was that the show was basically going to shit. He seems to be pulling it out though this season.
